18:30 – 20:30 14th June, Central London.

Over the course of the next 12 months Artgym will be hosting a series of special events for professionals interested in making a difference to people and the planet.

At each event, we will introduce an idea that we believe has the potential to inspire positive action and use this to stimulate constructive dialogue between colleagues and peers.

Each event will be 2 hours and take place in either London or Shanghai. All events will be free with the opportunity to make a donation to a relevant charity.

Our first event will launch on 14th June, 18:30 – 20:30 in London.

Titled – ‘Stories, Images and Dreams’, we will explore the power to engage, inspire and influence positive change in challenging times.

We will use ‘The Moving Theatre’ as a case study to stimulate the discussion with colleagues and peers across different disciplines, through sharing our insights and learnings.

‘The Moving Theatre’ was a project led by Artgym that gave people the opportunity to share their experience of leaving home and settling in a new country. Our aim with the project was to give voice to people’s true experiences, so that it might in some way counteract the negative migrant narrative created by certain media and political parties. By working in creative collaboration with photographers, animators, film makers, musicians and other partners, we helped nearly 1,000 people find ways to creatively express the most moving moments of their lives.

What started as story-telling workshops, transformed into a series of influential talks, exhibitions, animations and documentaries that toured the world. ‘The Moving Theatre’ reached international acclaim, winning 10 prestigious awards. But most importantly, it helped people around the world see beyond the word ‘migrant’, through to the human being and listen to people’s stories with dignity and respect.

Central to success of ‘The Moving Theatre’ was a creative collaboration with many different partners to work with people’s Stories, Images and Dreams. As the Director of ‘The Moving Theatre’, Artgym CEO Eugene Hughes will also be sharing his insights and learning during the discussion along with other colleagues and contributors from the fields of organisational change, coaching, psychotherapy, art psychotherapy and social entrepreneurship amongst others.
